Congratulations to both our Girls and Boys Track and Field Teams on impressive showings at the 2017 AAAA State Meet!
The girls scored 42 points giving them a 5th place finish overall. The events started on Friday for RV with Mekayla Brown competing in the High Jump. Brown jumped a personal best 5-02 to finish 4th overall. On Saturday the girls 4x100m relay of LaNaya Martin, Alliyah Brooks, Camryn Jenkins and Mekayla Brown ran a time of 49.08 to finish 4th. Alliyah Brooks followed the relay in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.77 which also gave her a 4th place finish. LaNaya Martin competed in the 100m with a time of 12.40 for a 5th place finish. Johnaida Eliscar competed in both the Long Jump and 400m. In the Long Jump her mark of 17-01 gave her a 4th place finish. In the 400m Eliscar ran a personal/seasonal best of 56.31 to take the Gold. The girls concluded Saturday in the 4x400m relay. Aaliyah Morgan, Alliyah Brooks, LaNaya Martin and Johnaida Eliscar ran a season best 3:57.70 to bring home the Silver medal.
The boys team placed 10th overall. The 4×8 (Kaleb Thomson, Brandon Jackson, Fredrick Sargent, and Justin Rose) team placed 5th with a new personal record of 8:24.63 crushing their time from last week by 12 seconds. The last event of for the night Damion Daley placed 7th in the shotput. Saturday morning started off with Ali Kelley taking 3rd in the 100 meter dash where he was projected to come last, next Ali ran the 200 where he placed 7th. Next the 4×4 (Davion Easter, Daniel Green, Latheron Rogers-Anderson, Vinson Bowman) took to the track and took second place with the time of 3:22.80 and beat their time by 5 seconds. Darnell Grice came in 5th place in the Triple Jump.
